Representative Torpey is reported in the Independence Examiner as having said last week that, “We need to put politics aside” on the issue of Medicaid expansion. Whether I agree that Medcaid needs to expanded or not, I cannot possibly understand the foundation for this suggestion.
Who administers Medicaid? Isn’t it government? What is government? Isn’t it the product of politics? Medicaid is politics. How can a politician who is elected to serve us in our political/governmental system, make the observation that a service that has been usurped by government should be divorced from politics? Is this the nonsense of politics now, to call what is political not political, to call that which is government not government? I wish our politicians would pay attention to what they are doing.
What is the VA controversy but politics? Those who have been elected our government overlords are now mistreating our veterans. They cheat and obfuscate for their own gain. This is politics. Expanding Medicaid is expanding politics. Expanding Medicaid gives government even more control over all of our lives.
If you want to divorce politics from the Medicaid issue, you must remove politics, i.e. government, from Medicaid. You must remove government from healthcare. Repeal Medicaid completely.
