Good question. My name is David Linton. I am a frustrated engineer, lawyer and theologian. Having degrees in all three, I am constantly trying to think consistently in all three realms. It comes as a challenge at times, and thus my frustration.
I received my B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Missouri – Rolla in May of 1981 and my J.D. from the University of Missouri – Columbia in May of 1984. I was admitted to the Missouri Bar later that year. For most of my career, I have served the exciting electric utility industry in one form or another. My first position out of law school was as a lobbyist, which was suited to me since I have been engaged with politics most of my life. However, the challenges of raising a family encouraged me to focus primarily in utility legal counseling, consulting, and management.
I am also a churchman. I have been a member of a great Presbyterian Church (PCA) in St. Louis for my entire adult life, having grown up in the Lutheran Church (LCMS). I am a ruling elder in the PCA. I have taken classes off and on at Covenant Theological Seminary (PCA) for most of my adult life, where I received an M.A. in Exegetical Theology on January 15, 2010.

My thesis for my M.A. is entitled The Eucharist: A Covenantal Analysis of I Corinthians 11:17-32. The thesis is an analysis of how the Lord’s Supper fits in the line of covenant renewal ceremonies in Scripture, i.e. the rainbow, circumcision, and the Sabbath.
It is on the foundation of these studies that I have come to the conclusion that our American governmental system is covenantal in nature. I believe we are in great peril in turning our backs on that heritage. This site is devoted to reclaiming our Christian heritage. Sir William Blackstone expresses that heritage better than any other figure in history. He is pivotal in understanding the legal system and culture that formed this great Republic.

I agree with everything in your article about entitlements except Social Security. I don’t believe that is an entitlement, I paid into Social Security since I first started working at the age of 14 and worked until I was 75. I don’t see that as an entitlement. However, I do agree that many people do sign up for Social Security and never worked a day in their life in America and am puzzled as to how they can receive benefits. Theresa Pitiak
